Look every inch the cool cat in your own pair of handmade, perfectly fitted capri pants. You’re already no stranger to a sewing machine but by the end of this course you’ll be able to sew waist darts, put in a waist facing, sew in a clever invisible side zip, and conjure a lovely fitted, tapered leg.
What’s more you’ll get a truly professional finish while learning to use one of our Janome overlockers.
In your own choice of fabric (see 'Additional Information'), make a classic cigarette pant in a slimming solid black for a wardrobe classic, or pick a bold pattern and express your individuality!
Now step daintily into your best ballerina flats and
sashay off to a bar where they play jazz, serve martinis and pretend to
read Jack Kerouac.
As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
Based at Bamber Sewing Machines, Ministry of Craft customers get 10% discount on the wide range of fabrics, haberdashery and sewing patterns and there are various discounts available on their sewing machines and overlockers.

You will need to bring the following to the workshop, if you want, you can buy on the day from Bamber Sewing Machines and get 10% discount.
2m of 150cm wide fabric or 2.3m of 115cm wide fabric, please avoid bulky, stretchy or slippery fabrics; light to medium weight woven cotton is ideal.
A 23cm (9") concealed/invisible zip (be careful not to pick up a standard zip).
20cm of fusible interfacing (this can be bought from Bamber Sewing Machines on the day).
Matching thread.
Contact us before the course if your hip circumference measures outside the range 88cm - 112cm so we can ensure there is a pattern block made in your size and so we can advise how much fabric to bring.
This workshop is part of a Sew Social day, there may be a short wait if the tutor needs to demonstrate a technique required for a different garment. It is, however, a great opportunity to pick up additional skills and chat about what others are doing.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (230DC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring in your own machines.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and there will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to Asda located opposite.
